I Got The Victory!

In preparation for Resurrection Sunday I intuitively increased my attention and intention with my use of the Lord’s Prayer. Why? Because with literally billions of people focused on Christ Jesus and Resurrection, the potential for transformation in the form of resurrection is tremendously accelerated. Just like surfers get excited at the sight of a big wave that they can ride, the momentum of a collective consciousness in tune with Christ and Resurrection was a wave that I simply could not miss, and neither should you. Certainly we can each anoint any day, every day for that matter, with the idea of Resurrection. In fact I encourage you to do that. Yet and still, do not miss this wave dear hearts. We are hours from the official “Resurrection Sunday” as I write this message, but the idea is still very present in the collective consciousness (thoughts and hearts) of the world.

As Reverend Doctor Robert Yarbrough so clearly explains in his book The Prayer That Jesus Prayed, prayer is transformative. In other words, prayer changes things. What does prayer change? You! How does prayer change you? According to Yarbrough prayer becomes your personal realization and causes you to see circumstances through the eyes of Spirit (God/Holy Spirit/Universe.) He goes further to say that prayer without understanding, intentionality and recognition of its power, our power and our potential, simply will not yield the fruits of the Spirit. Since I am absolutely certain that every soul reading these words would love to experience the fruits of the Spirit i.e. love, joy, peace, wisdom, health and abundant good fortune in all aspects of life, I am listing some suggestions for using the Lord’s Prayer to experience a personal resurrection and uplift in your life.

  1. Become familiar with the Lord’s Prayer. It can be found in the Bible, Matthew 6:9-13 and Luke 11:2-4. (You can also google it!) Regardless of your religious or spiritual background, this is a tremendously powerful prayer that can uplift you and ultimately uplift the circumstances, trials and/or tribulations that you may be experiencing in your life.
  2. Be very clear that your intention with reading or saying this prayer is to change your life and/or circumstances for the better by expanding your personal realization of God as a Universal Presence and Power for good that surrounds you, leads you, protects you and provides for you.
  3. Develop a practice of saying this prayer in multiples of the number 3. The number three carries with it the power of transformation. It has been said that Jesus was resurrected in 3 days. By focusing on the potential turnaround with the number three, because it is done unto you as you believe, you will be intentionally tapping into the transformative power by repeating it in sets of three. For example Emma Curtis Hopkins, an amazing spiritual teacher from the late 1800s, taught ministerial students to say this prayer 15 times (tapping the multiplicative power of the numbers 3 x 5) and in the Catholic tradition it is not uncommon for a priest to advise someone in confession to say the Lord’s Prayer 15 times as well. Hmmm…. I just hit you with some food for thought. =)

I highly recommend reading The Prayer That Jesus Prayed for further development of your understanding about this prayer. You can also check out Saturday’s online radio interview with author and spiritual teacher Reverend Doctor Robert Yarbrough at http://blogtalkradio.com/shawnamarie

Lastly, there is a very popular gospel song called I’ve Got The Victory! It is about the “sweet sweet Victory in Jesus.” Perhaps these words may have new meaning in light of what I have shared with you about the Lord’s Prayer and your potential for personal resurrection, for you, too, can have the sweet, sweet victory of overcoming trials and tribulations in your life. Enjoy the true victory everyday!

Shawna, thanks for this article… I was just thinking about that song yesterday or the day before because I heard it in a movie. I think I am almost done with being surprised when things I think about just show up for me… I must work on getting so good at it that it shows up instantly.

The post, is a great follow up to your radio show interview with Reverend Yarbrough and helps make the discussion more concrete for me.

Thanks for the insight as always.
